My concentration is to focus on creating a child-like painting series of phobias/fears.I plan to use emphasis and contrast to create my images. The Heights is done, but the crowds and spiders are works in progress.
I like the fluffiness of the little red guy because it creates texture. For the crowd one I would try to include more variety among the crowd (like the yellow sketch you had in your presentation)
I love it! Though, to add emotion, try to shape the little red guy's eyes to match how he feels. Adding slants and creases in certain areas can completely change how the character is conveyed, and avoids an always static appearance. https://chrismarkland.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/facial_expressions.jpg
Although unfinished, I believe your last piece is the strongest. I like the amount of detail you put into it and proportions are accurate. I think your color choices are very practical, but I would incorporate even more details into unexpected things to give a cooler feel.
I like how the spider one has a lot of depth. The heights one looks flatter so I think you should try and make it look more dimensional.
