This photo was shot in the studio using an external flash, unlike my previous images that were shot at home. The biggest difference is that the splash is actually in focus, I managed to do this by placing a quarter in the pan, focusing on the quarter, and making sure every drop hit the quarter.

  1. I think this is great. I really like the movement and color of the water. The reflection in the water also makes it a lot more interesting. I think you should experiment with different colors if you are not planning to already.

  2. This looks really good Cortland! It's much better than your previous images. Its very clear, maybe try focussing on different parts of the splash just to experiment. I'd try changing the background by editing, or maybe covering the edge of the tray with something while shooting. It looks good though, good job!

    1. Yeah, next time I am going to cover the pan with colored and laminated paper to get a background that looks like it flows into the water.
